Day 1 - L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue & Gordes
- Meet in Avignon. Private transfer to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a Provençal Venice crisscrossed with lazy canals, known for its antique dealers and canal side cafes.After a light lunch, ride to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, the mysterious spring that is the source of the emerald Sorgue River.Ride meandering side roads into the majestic Vaucluse Valley to our hotel in 12th-century Gordes.Dine on traditional French Provençal country fare surrounded by its omnipresent herbs in a noted village restaurant.
Day 2 - Villages of the Luberon
- Ride into the Vaucluse Valley.Discover the dramatic landscapes of the Luberon and the quintessential Provençal villages immortalized by the writer, Peter Mayle in his book "A year in Provence".Join the artists in the ocher capital of Roussillon. Visit Bonnieux for its handicrafts, Lacoste, once home of the infamous Marquis di Sade and charming Ménerbes.Take an optional route to visit the 12th-century Abbaye de Sénanque.Meander the village streets and join the locals and artists in a outdoor bistro.
Day 3 - Sault & Crillon le Brave
- Ride through the forests of the plateau de Vaucluse to Sault, an isolated hilltop village surrounded by fields of lavender.Follow a gentle downhill route through the dramatic canyons of Gorges de la Nesque natural park where eagles float on thermal updrafts.
Day 4 - Vaison-la-Romaine & Mont Ventoux
- Cycle through the dentelles de Montmirail valley past Le Barroux with its 12th-century Château. Visit Vaison-la-Romaine, an ancient city with an abandoned hilltop castle, for a visit to its 1st-century Roman ruins.Test yourself in the tracks of Tour de France winners Lance Armstrong and Marco Pantano on an optional climb to the 6000 foot summit of Mont Ventoux.Dinner on your own this evening to discover you own culinary and romantic corner of charming Crillon le Brave.
Day 5 - Uchaux and the Côtes-du-Rhône
- Ride into the Côtes-du-Rhône.Pass through the wine villages of Vacqueyras, Gigondas and Sablet.Visit a Côtes du Provence châteaux and wine producer for a "dégustation des vins".Cycle through the flat Rhône valley with its sea of vineyards.Visit the Medieval castle at Suze-la-Rousse.Celebrate your Provençal adventure on local specialties complimented with Côtes-du-Rhône wines.
Day 6 - Avignon
- Homeward bound.Bid a final farewell to the soothing landscapes of Provence and take a private transfer to Avignon for convenient TGV train departures for Paris, or extend your stay in beautiful Provence.As always, we would be more than pleased to help you with any of your post-trip travel planning.
