Wander its Medieval streets, visit an "enoteca" wine shop, try Italy's best "gelato" and relax in one of Tuscany's most unique hilltop villages.Travel to Lucca, one of Tuscany's most civilized towns surrounded with thick walls topped with a boulevard of trees and walkways.Meander with the locals on a walk around the walls before joining your trip leader for a casual walking tour of the historic center.Relax to the sounds of Puccini, one of the world's great composers and one of Lucca's favorite sons while we dine just around the corner from his birth home.

CLASSIC INNS SELECTION

Radda in Chianti - pictured (2 nights) - join Roberto and Marie-Sylvie at their 16th-century Tuscan farm house and wine estate that has been converted into one of the Chianti's most sought after country guest house B&Bs. Wooden beams, terracotta-tiled floors and antique furnishings are witness to the long and interesting story of this estate. Accommodations are provided in cozy double rooms tastefully furnished with a touch of rustic elegance. A highlight is an evening banquet of traditional cuisine prepared and served al fresco with our gracious hosts.

Lucca - (1 night) - this small boutique hotel located within the quiet Medieval streets of Lucca dates from the 12th century and was built on the foundations of an ancient Roman town house. Defining elegance and refinement, the décor of the hotel reflects the style of noble Lucchese with the use of antique wood floors in all the bedrooms complimented with fine marble and other local stones in the bathrooms, lobby and common rooms.

Santa Margherita Ligure - (2 nights) - a relaxing family run hotel located within walking distance from the harbor and shopping boutiques of historic Santa Margherita. Decorated in a very elegant 17th-century style, classic furniture perfectly coupled with oil paintings have been gathered from around the world.

Please note: The above selected inns are subject to accommodations availability upon trip request. As there are many charming Classic Inns located along our route, if we need to choose an alternative lodging, it will meet or exceed the above selection in ratings, settings, amenities and views.
